Description
The International Agency for Research on Cancer has initiated and coordinated epidemiological cohort studies among employees in nuclear industry in several countries with the aim to carry out a common analysis. The magnitude of the number of persons who are included in this study and the derived number of person-years is assessed in such a range that it should be possible to get information to the risk of carcinogenic effects after a chronic low-dose radiation exposure. The results of that analysis will be compared with the risk factors derived from persons who are exposed by high-dose radiation: e.g. the A-bomb survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. (author)
