Evaluation of gamma radiation uses in the preparation of antipertussis vaccine

Description
Twelve lots of antipertussis were inactivated by the classical method and by radiation from Co60 source, and stored at temperature ranging from 20C to 80C for three months. Those vaccines were checked using the tests of toxicity and protection in mice. In the group submitted to radiation there was complete bacterial inactivation but not immediate destoxification. The immunogenicity of the vaccines was not changed by radiation. The protective activity on mice was similar in the lots treated by the classical method and by radiation. (Author)

Estuda-se pelo teste de toxidez e protecao em camundongos, a inativacao de doze lotes de vacina antipertussis pelo metodo classico e por radiacao gama, obtida a partir do cobalto 60. As vacinas foram conservadas em camara fria entre 20C e 80C por tres meses. No grupo submetido a radiacao houve inativacao de bacterias, porem nao se obteve destoxificacao imediata. A imunogenicidade da vacina nao foi alterada pela radiacao, tendo a atividade protetora ocorrido semelhantemente nos dois metodos. (Autor)Additional details
