Description

To illustrate the effects of Mo on radiation induced segregation, which causes irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking (IASSC), we investigated the grain boundary chemistry of high purity Fe-18Cr-16Ni-Mo alloys irradiated by Ni ions using FE-TEM. With increasing of Mo content, depletion of Cr and segregation of Ni at grain boundaries are alleviated. Thus, the addition of Mo to stainless steels is expected to mitigate IASCC.(author)
