A new computational model for deposition of aerosol particles inhaled in human respiratory systems

  • 1. Kyoto Univ., Uji (Japan). Inst. of Atomic Energy

Description

A new computational model for deposition of particles inhaled in human respiratory systems were proposed. Weibel's model was used as a standard human lung. The calculations were performed by the similar method to Landahl's, Beeckmans' and others', with the exception of newly proposed equations for the particle deposition by impaction in the diverged parts and by tranquil diffusion in the straight parts. The calculated results were somewhat different from the ICRP's, and some examples of regional distributions of particle deposition in human lung were shown.
