Improvements in or relation to nuclear reactor condenser support structure
Description
A description is given of a nuclear reactor containment including a reactor compartment and a condenser compartment normally isolated from the reactor compartment but adapted to communicate with the reactor compartment when a fluid escapes therefrom. The condenser compartment has a support structure for supporting a quantity of fusible material in a solid state and includes an array of containers for the fusible material. The containers have openings in their side walls and consist of cylindrical sections of a predetermined length assembled end-to-end to form continuous columns when filled with the fusible material. The cylindrical container sections have stiffening rings at their ends, the stiffening rings having telescoping portions with locking spring tabs thereon for releasably retaining the cylindrical sections in assembled relation.
