Fluoride volatility process operating experience
Description
Allied Chemical produces uranium hexafluoride using the anhydrous fluoride volatility process at its plant in Metropolis, Ill. Inherent in the fluoride volatility process is the ability to produce UF6 of exceptional purity. This paper presents the sampling processes used to ensure the quality of the uranium concentrate feed, gives the process flowsheet, and discusses the health physics and waste management measures adopted at the plant
