An account is given of the authors' experience with the CT examination of the soft tissues of the neck in 77 patients with tumors of the orofacial area and neck, made at the radiodiagnostic department of the Regional Hospital with Policlinic in Banska Bystrica between April 1, 1984 and December 31, 1987. The role of CT examinations in the comprehensive diagnosis of metastatic cervical lymphadenopathies is discussed, and CT N-staging of spinocellular carcinoma of the head and neck is recommended to supplement the TNM classification of malignant tumors.
