Description
Measurements of charged fusion product losses were obtained near the first wall of TFTR, using a movable detector located just below the outer midplane. Experimental results obtained in MHD quiescent discharges showed the presence of two loss mechanisms - one associated with first-orbit losses and the other believed to be toroidal field stochastic ripple diffusion. Numerical calculations, based on the model of Goldston et al. (Phys. Rev. Lett. 47 (1981) 647), were found to be in reasonable agreement with the experimental results. (author). 32 refs, 17 figs
