The parallel of the clinical x-ray and scintigraphic images in adult aseptic femoral head necrosis

  • 1. Kievskij Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Ortopedii (Ukrainian SSR)

Description

On the basis of the clinical, x-ray and scintigraphic data taken using sup(85)Sr isotope of patients (58) with aseptic femoral head necrosis, three activity types of the disease can be distinguished: active, inactive and moderately active. These types differ according to their initial symptomes, the rapidity of the dynamics of the pathological process and the severity of the final outcome. The active process has the worst prognosis in which, in relatively short time (1-2 years) a rapidly processing destruction of the femoral head can be expected. In the definition of the activity of aseptic necrosis, gamma scintigraphy of the hip is an important method. With its use the activity of the process can be determined at the first examination.
