Radiation homopolymerization of glycidylacrylate and glycidylmethacrylate

Description
Data on γ-radiation polymerization of bifunctional monomers of glycidylacrylate (GA) and glycidylmethacrylate (GMA) are compared with their electronic structure determined by the method of molecular orbitals (MO). It is shown that there are electronic properties of the (meth)acrylic group in GA and GMA in comparison with epoxide one, that causes the behaviour of a molecule both at the first stages of radiolysis and at stages of chain growth during polymerization. Differences occurring in GA and GMA radiation polymerization are characteristic for acrylic and methacrylic monomers
