Relationship between absorption potentials in generalized optical model and compound reaction cross sections

Description
Making use of the space-time formalism in description of nuclear particle collisions a general formula which relates the absorption potentials to compound-reaction cross sections and to the cross sections of the direct processes which do not explicitly enter the coupled-channel-method equations have been derived. With this relationship, the possibility of calculating the cross sections of compound processes and imposed restraints on the choice of absorption potentials in different nucleon-nucleus scattering channels have been analyzed
