Magnetic anomalies in SmMn2Ge2
- 1. Tata Inst. of Fundamental Res., Mumbai (India). Solid State Phys. Group
Description
The results of electrical resistance (ρ), magnetoresistance (Δρ/ρ) and magnetization (M) measurements are reported for polycrystalline SmMn2Ge2. Sharp variations in ρ at 108 and 142 K attributable to well-known magnetic transitions from Mn sublattice are noted. Sign of the ρ across these transitions exhibits anomalies. Δρ/ρ data indicate the existence of a hitherto unrecognized magnetic anomaly near 30 K, presumably of ferrimagnetic type as revealed by isothermal M data at low temperatures. (orig.)
