Nuclear reactor control rod
Description
Purpose: To prevent the destructure danger of metal tubular bodies of poison tubes in a control rod due to swelling thereby increasing the life of the control rod. Constitution: In a nuclear reactor control rod having poison tubes comprising B4C powder as neutron absorbers contained in a metal tubular body, the metal tubular body is shaped such that the circular periphery in the cross section thereof is concaved portionwise. Accordingly, if swelling is resulted in the neutron absorbers, they are absorbed by the circular deformation of the cross sectional shape of the tubular body. (Yoshino, Y.)
