CR-39 track detectors for measurements of radon volume activity and exhalation rates of the new houses of the Tashkent city

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics, Ulugbek, Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

Description

The latest years, most of the detached dwellings in Tashkent city have been constructed with two or three floors houses by using burnt bricks. Dynamic increase of these houses with using of different building materials demands us to know about the radon quantity in the new houses. The main objective of this study is to perform measurements of radon indoor, in winter and summer, to determinate the annual effective doses and estimate the rate that exhales from soils, building materials and walls by using CR-39 detectors. The results of measurements have given the following: the mean values of indoor radon activities are varied from 62.1 to 446 Bq m-3, appropriate values of annual effective doses were within 1.67-11.12 mSv y-1. The values of radon exhalation rate were determined in the 11.2-26.0, 0.054-0.445 and 0.078-0.234 Bq m-2 h-1 for soils, building materials and walls, respectively. (author)
