A Study on the Optimize of Hydraulic Cylinder Cushion for Nuclear/Thermal Power Plant

  • 1. Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials, Daejeon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

The turbine steam control device of nuclear/thermal power plants consists of a single-acting hydraulic cylinder that feeds or cuts off the steam, a large spring, and a poppet valve. The high- and lowpressure turbine in power plants is controlled by these special poppet type valves which are opened by the single-acting cylinder and closed by a large spring. The rapid closure of the poppet valve occurs regularly for emergency stops at the power plants; therefor, hydraulic cushions are installed at the ends of the single-acting hydraulic cylinder to eliminate the caused by high inertia. In this study, the system inertia and spring force were analyzed for a single-acting hydraulic cylinder that opens the steam supply valve of a nuclear/thermal power plant. In order to optimize the hydraulic cushion, M&S analysis and prototyping were fabricated, and the analysis results and experimental results were compared and analyzed.
