Description of a four angle time-of-flight spectrometer for studying neutron scattering in the energy range from 8 to 15 MeV
Description
Neutron cross sections in the energy range from 8 to 15 MeV are frequently requested mainly for fission and fusion reactor development and for nuclear safety applications. As a consequence a four angle time-of-flight fast neutron spectrometer has been designed and realized. Incident neutrons are produced using the Super EN tandem Van de Graaff accelerator installed at the Centre d'Etudes de Bruyeres-le-Chatel and either deuterium or tritium gas targets. An auxiliary facility consisting in a 150 kV pulsed accelerator enables the production of 14.9 MeV energy primary neutron fluxes and the use of the same experimental set-up. Complete description and main characteristics of the apparatus are presented along with some experimental results

Pour reponse aux demandes de donnees neutroniques dans le domaine d'energie compris entre 8 et 15 MeV, on a concu, realise et experimente un spectrometre de temps de vol a quatre detecteurs. Les neutrons incidents sont produits a partir de l'accelerateur Van de Graaff tandem Super EN du Centre d'Etudes de Bruyeres-le-Chatel a l'aide de cibles gazeuses de deuterium ou de tritium. Un equipement auxiliaire compose d'un accelerateur 150 kV pulse permet de produire, a l'aide de la reaction T(d,n)4He, un flux de neutrons d'energie 14,9MeV dans les memes conditions geometriques qu'a l'aide de l'accelerateur tandem.
