In this chapter, the author gives a description of the Novosibirsk experiment. It was this experiment that resulted in the discovery of parity nonconservation in atomic transitions. Preparations for the experiment began in the summer of 1974. The red line of bismuth was chosen for investigation. Due to acquisition of a tunable laser, it was April of 1976 when the experiment started
