Evidence for delta-hole components from pion reactions
Description
Some anomalies observed in pion-induced reactions have been qualitatively explained with a model which includes Δ33 admixtures in low lying nuclear states. Semi-quantitative analysis of these effects indicates the amplitudes for the Δ33 admixtures necessary to explain these effects are on the order of a few percent. Although a more rigorous theoretical treatment of this problem is necessary, it appears that pion-induced reactions may provide a tool with which the spectroscopy of these Δ33-admixtures can be studied
