Thermal analysis of Ru (III) complexes of antihistamine, antiulcer and antibiotic drug molecules

  • 1. Dept. of Chemistry, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur (India)

Description

The thermal decomposition behaviour of the Ru (III) complexes of Antihistamatic drugs Methdilazine, Promethazine, Antiulcer drug Ranitidine and -lactam Antibiotics Ceftriaxone, Cefotaxime, Cefuroxime have been investigated by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) at a heating rate of 20 deg C min-1 under nitrogen atmosphere. The processes of thermal decomposition taking place in the six complexes are studied comparatively as the TGA curves indicate the difference in the thermal decomposition behaviour of these complexes. The method is suitable for the determination of 3-20 mg of drug: Ru (III) complexes with reasonable accuracy. These thermal data supplement the traditional FTIR, FTNMR, ESR, Magnetic Susceptibility, X-Ray diffraction, Electron Microscopy along with the elemental analysis the most plausible structure have been proposed which are further tested for enhanced pharmaceutical properties.
