Plasma flow measurement and structure formation in a rotating magnetized plasma

Description

In order to investigate structure formation in magnetized rotating plasmas, a method of plasma flow measurement is developed. Based on symmetry argument, the general relation between flow velocity and directional probe currents is obtained, of which validity is experimentally confirmed for any flow direction with respect to the magnetic field. We have observed a plasma hole structure in ECR (Electron Cyclotron Resonance) plasma, and the flow velocity field is measured using the directional probe method. (author)
