Some applications of the various magnetic resonance methods in the field of solid state chemistry

Some applications of the various magnetic resonance methods in the field of solid state chemistry are demonstrated. Experiments on inorganic and metalorganic substances of recent interest are briefly discussed. The given examples are related to the static and dynamic properties of these solids. They concern the metal-insulator phase transition in the 1-d conductor K2Pt(CN)4Br0.3 3H2O, the stacking-disorder in Agl single crystals below the transition to the superionic conducting state, the cation-disorder in the spinel-structure, the magnetic phase transition in the metalorganic layered structure (NH3CH3)2CuCl4 and the charge transfer in the photochromic absorption processes in SrTiO3. To illustrate the double resonance methods, some dynamic nuclear polarisation experiments are discussed which concern the natural 17O in Al2O3 and TiO2. Results are presented which demonstrate the sensitivity of DNP as well as the spin dynamics involved in double resonance phenomena. (orig.)

Es werden einige Anwendungen der magnetischen Resonanzmethode in der Festkörperchemie besprochen. Experimente an anorganischen und metallorganischen Substanzen werden kurz skizziert. Die Beispiele betreffen sowohl die statischen wie dynamischen Eigenschaften dieser Festkörper. Im einzelnen handelt es sich um den Metall‐Isolator‐Phasenübergang im quasi‐eindimensionalen K 2 Pt(CN) 4 Br 0.3 3H 2 O, die Polytypie in AgI unterhalb des Übergangs zum Superionenleiter, die Kationen‐Unordnung in den Spinellen, den magnetischen Phasenübergang in den metallorganischen Schichtstrukturen von Typ (NH 3 CH 3 ) 2 CuCl 4 und den Ladungstransfer bei photochromischen Prozessen in SrTiO 3 . Zur Illustration der Doppelresonanzmethoden werden einige Beiträge zur Spindynamik von 17 O in Al 2 O 3 und TiO 2 besprochen, die mit Hilfe der dynamischen Kernpolarisation möglich geworden sind.Additional details
