Identification of radioactive minerals by means of X-rays

Description
As a result of a thorough revision of the extensive bibliography from different sources avialable to the author, an updated compilation (up to December, 31st., 1981) was made of the fundamental parameters for the identification, by means of X-rays, of the radioactive minerals and of those which can behave as such as a consequence of an eventual incorporation of radioactive chemical elements. The data is arranged in 3 sections: the first one is an Entry Register which, on the basis of the five strongest lines or the dia-gram, allows to readily find out the species whose main X-rays spacings are closest to those of the samples being identified. In the second section, the species are listed in alphabetical order, together with their corresponding X-ray spacings and a description of their mineralogical, chemical and physical characteristics, as well as any other useful data to facilitate correct identification of the samples. The third and last section is a catalogue of the radioactive minerals grouped according to their annions. (C.A.K.)

Como resultado de una exhaustiva revision de la abundante bibliografia de diversos origenes a su alcance, el autor efectuo una recopilacion, actualizada hasta el 31 de diciembre de 1981, de los parametros fundamentales para la identificacion, mediante rayos X, de los minerales radiactivos y de aquellos que pueden comportarse como tales por presentar una eventual incorporacion de elementos quimicos radiactivos. Los datos estan organizados en tres secciones. La primera de ellas es un Registro de Entrada que, sobre la base de las cinco lineas mas intensas del diagrama, permite ubicar rapidamente las especies cuyos principales espaciados de rayos X se aproximan mas a los de las muestras a identificar. En la segunda seccion las especies aparecen en orden alfabetico, consignandose para cada una de los correspondientes espaciados de rayos X y una descripcion de sus caracteristicas fisicas, quimicas, mineralogicas, etc., asi como todo otro dato util para facilitar la correcta identificacion de las muestras. La tercera y ultima seccion es un catalogo de los minerales radiactivos agrupados segun sus aniones. (C.A.K.)Files
