Gamma camera - for tomographic body scanning- incorporates approach and safety planes with light emitting diodes and receivers

Description

A gamma camera consists of a support which can be moved relative to a frame, equipped at one end with a flat detector. It also has two approach planes lying parallel to the detector to ensure the accurate positioning of the patient's body surface between the two planes. The camera incorporates a collimator with a safety plane between the collimator and the two approach planes and lying parallel to it to ensure a limiting position for the patient's body. The approach and or safety planes can be formed from rows of light emitting diodes situated opposite rows of light detectors and especially photo-transistors, with a circuit to synchronize the emission and reception of light. The advantage of this technology is the more precise and automatic positioning of patient in relation to camera. (authors). 8 figs
