Comparative study on the radiographic and CT findings of peroxyacetic acid corrosive esophagitis

Description

Objective: To explore the radiographic and CT findings of peroxyacetic acid corrosive esophagitis. Methods: The radiographic and CT manifestations were analyzed in 7 cases with peroxyacetic acid corrosive esophagitis retrospectively. Results: The main radiographic manifestations were badly irregular stenosis of esophageal tract in middle and low segment, ankylosis of esophageal wall, disappearance of creepage, disappearance of mucous membrance, different extent of dilatation beyond stenosis segment. The main CT manifestations were obvious thickening of the esophageal wall in stenosis segment, blurring of the esophageal outer edge, disappearance of the fat line and different extent of dilatation beyond esophageal stenosis segment. Conclusion: The site, area, degree of the peroxyacetic acid corrosive esophagitis and the injured organs around esophagus can be clearly demonstrated with X-ray and CT, which can direct the clinical therapy.
