Penetration of a low-frequency magnetic wave into a nebula plasma

Description
In this note, we present numerical calculations of the "anomalous" penetration of a low-frequency magnetic wave into a plasma for a parametric range of interest for various astrophysical problems such as the Crab Nebula. When the simplest collective plasma effects are included, the wave can penetrate much farther than the classical skin depth and can produce efficient heating of the plasma (T 1 MeY). This mechanism may be important for the creation of low-energy cosmic rays. Subject headings: hydromagnetics - plasmas - supernovae
