An algorithm for optimum positioning of the dipoles in a synchrotron

Description
A description is given of an algorithm for optimum positioning of the dipoles in a synchroton. This optimum positioning of the dipoles provides the least displacement of the orbit. The algorithm makes use of successive analysis and elimination of variants. The results of a computational experience are also given. (orig.)
