Semiconductor detectors for intracavitary and interstitial diagnosis of cancer with radioactive phosphorus
- 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.
Description
Quantitative analysis of semiconducting detectors is carried out for the choice of optimum dimensions of the detector and determination of its maximum performance as regards the effective β-radiation detection in tumor diagnostics. The problem of detecting β-radiation of 32P uniformly distributed in the tissue by means of a spherical semiconducting detector placed inside the tissue is considered. Calculated dependences of the number of pulses on the detector diameter for different specific activities of tissues are presented. Specifications of two types of semiconducting detectors for the contact β-radiometry are given: a flexible β-probe for endosopic investigations and a needle-shaped β-probe for interstitial investigations
