Why should quantities and units be practical (Hans Christian Andersen please forgive me)
Description
The author considers the fairy tale quality of the thinking behind the introduction of new radiation protection units proposed by ICRU 73. It is felt that the new quantities and their special units add nothing to the health physics profession. The uncertainties with the linear vs threshold hypotheses remain unresolved by these actions.
