Theoretical analysis of the A1 I absorption spectrum
Description
A plot of oscillator strengths of the Al I 3s23p 2P 3s2nd 2D transitions and the adjoining continuum, by the quantum-defect method, shows a good fit of the recent Kohl and Parkinson continuum data with earlier discrete measurements. The plot has the shape of a broad BeutlerFano profile, with F 1.4 eV and q 0.8; it thus indicates that most of the oscillator strength is contributed by the 2p 3s3p2 2D transition represented by the broad peak. Subject headings: autoionization - opacities - spectra, solar - spectra, ultraviolet - transition probabilities
