The 400 kV heavy ion accelerator of THOMSON-CSF Central Research Laboratory

Description
This paper describes the characteristics of the 400 kV accelerator of THOMSON-CSF Central Research Laboratory. The measurements show that the accelerator may be used both as an implantation machine (it provides high beam currents of most elements with a high mass separation M/ΔM=500) and as an unit for nuclear microanalysis (it provides beam currents of light ions H+, D+, He+, He++ of good quality: energy resolution ΔE/E<10-4, divergence <1 mrd, beam spot 1 mm2). The application fields of the accelerator for implantation and surface analysis are briefly presented

Cet article decrit les caracteristiques de l'accelerateur 400 kV du Laboratoire Central de Recherches THOMSON-CSF. Les performances mesurees montrent que cette machine peut etre utilisee a la fois comme implanteur d'ions (obtention de faisceaux intenses d'especes variees avec un pouvoir separateur eleve M/ΔM=500) et comme outil d'analyse de surface par microanalyse nucleaire (obtention de faisceaux d'ions legers H+, D+, He+, He++ de grande qualite: resolution en energie ΔE/E<10-4, divergence<1 mrd, focalisation 1 mm2).
