Iodine transfer from the ground into plants

Description
The author regards the deposition of radioiodine from the air as the most important way of contamination from plants. Investigations carried out near to the WAK show that the deposition of I-129 from the air can in no case be described with the deposition speed of I2. It is assumed that the inactive CH3I plays a key role in the complicated mechanism of the reduction of the deposition speed of radio iodine. Due to the complicated analytics, only few samples could be taken by the author in the surroundings. Here, a definite explanation of the effects of CH3I on the deposition of radio iodine shoud be given. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Der Verfasser betrachtet die Deposition von Radiojod aus der Luft als die wichtigste Art der Kontamination von Pflanzen. Untersuchungen in der Naehe der WAK zeigten, dass die Deposition von J-129 aus der Luft in keinem Fall mit der Depositionsgeschwindigkeit von J2 beschrieben werden kann. Es besteht der Verdacht, dass das inaktive CH3J eine Schluesselrolle beim komplizierten Mechanismus der Reduktion der Depositionsgeschwindigkeit von Radiojod einnimmt. Wegen der komplizierten Analytik konnten bisher vom Verfasser nur einige Stichproben in der Umgebung genommen werden. Hier sollte unbedingt eine gezielte Klaerung der Auswirkung von CH3J auf die Deposition von Radiojod vorgenommen werden. (orig.)Additional details
