Description

The performance of ion exchange resins, H-form and Li-form, was examined by observing the effluent concentration of Ag, Ni, Co ions as a function of time. Three types of continuous flow columns were used and compared: column of cation resin only, columns in series of cation and anion resins, and column of mixed cation and anion resins. The breakthrough curves obtained in the study showed the following results: 1. Ni, Ag and Co ions are shaped in cation form in acid oxidation solution, 2. column of mixed resins and columns in series give similar degree of heavy metals removal, and 3. H-form resin has a better adsorption ability to Ni, Ag, and Co ions compared with Li-form resin. (author)
