Description
Amorphous thin films of Y2GdI garnet have been synthesized by vacuum-deposition technique from polycrystalline materials. These thin films are found to undergo structural transformation when heated. The finally crystallized film exhibits single phase b.c.c. structure. The electron diffraction patterns of the garnet films are in close conformity with the X-ray data of polycrystalline Y2GdIG.
