Development of advanced neutron radiography techniques using thermal and cold neutrons from JRR-3M

Description

By neutrons radiography techniques, the fundamental characteristics of LEM (Lithium Expansion Module) and LIM (Lithium Injection Module) of RAPID-L, ultra stable and small reactor, were investigated and a new method of visualization and measurement of liquid phase velocity and void fraction of gas-liquid metal two-phase flow was developed. Applied examples of measurement of liquid phase velocity by the techniques were shown. The measurement error of void fraction was affected by blur of bubble image. The measurement error of local void fraction was depended on light attenuation of converter. When line velocity is 1.5m/s, the error of void fraction is about 20%. A velocity field measurement method in gas-liquid metal two-phase flow was developed by PIV and neutron radiography techniques. (S.Y.)
