Description
Dynamic simulation of power plants starts with the development of a mathematical model based on laws of physics and empirical relationships. The model is then implemented on a digital computer in a programming language and validated by simulating known transients. This model software development requires repeated modification of the programs and databases and study process variables under various transients.In very large simulations involving thousands of process variables and requiring team effort, management of the model software development process becomes very important. Integrated Simulation Environment (ISE) is a simulation development system offering centralized variable database management, modular development of model programs with seamless dynamic integration facilities and a sophisticated PC based graphic display system. ISE has been used for development of the RAPS-1 operator training simulator installed at Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS) and several other dynamic simulations. This paper describes the features and facilities of ISE as implemented on UNOS operating system and the future directions in its development. (author). 2 figs
