Pulsing light detonation in a laser plasma

Description

Non-stationary processes in low-temperature plasma are investigated under the carbon monoxide laser radiation (106-109W/cm2) interaction with plasma flare. Non-stationary character of such plasma is manifestated in the form of high-frequency luminescence pulsations behind the shock wave front during the time when laser radiation kups the shock wave front movement rate constant in the light detonation regime. A connection between incident radiation backward reflection and occurrence of periodic burst-like processes is ascertained. It is shown that pulsations can be caused by strong self-focusing of laser radiation in the moving plasma behind the shock wave front where the local sound rate is close to the plasma expansion rate
