Negative pion capture by medium nuclei in the Z approximately 50 region

Description
Experiments have been performed to investigate negative pion absorption at rest in medium nuclei (Z approximately 50, A approximately 100). The multiplicity for the emerging nucleons has been shown to reach 14-15, similar to the case of heavy nuclei. However, in the case of the medium nuclei, the proton multiplicity appears to be much larger. The excitation of high-spin states in the residual nuclei takes place similarly to the case of the heavy mass nuclei. This effect occurs independently of the charge composition of the emitted particles. (Auth.)
