Liquid chromatographic behaviour of actinides on monolith supports

Description

The retention behaviour of uranium and thorium was studied for the first time on a monolith chromatographic support modified with bis-2-ethylhexyl succinamic acid (BEHSA), α-Hydroxy isobutyric acid (HIBA) as well as HNO3 were used as the mobile phase. Uranium could be isolated from thorium in about 19 seconds using 0.01N HNO3 and is the fastest LC technique developed till date. The separation factor for U to Th was measured on BEHSA modified support. (author)
