Description
Sorption of radioactive chromate ions on freshly precipitated PbSO4, BaSO4 and SrSO4 has been investigated. Ageing and extraction characteristics of these fresh ionic solids have been discussed. The observed decrease in the sorption with increasing age of the sorbent is considered to be due to surface contraction of the precipitate. The observed difference in the extractability of the fresh and ignited samples is postulated to be due to difference in morphological characteristics between the two types. (orig.)
