This report summarizes the history of the Intermediate Heat Exchanger (IHX) design of the experimental Very High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor of JAERI, the methods of thermo-hydraulic and structural design with some examples in the VHTR Detailed Design (II), the status and future studies in the fields of production, inspection and repair technology, and some results and future works of the IHX R and D.
