What load do electric vehicles place on the Swiss power grid?

Description
This article discusses the influence of electrically-driven vehicles on Swiss electricity transport and distribution networks. A substantial reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by the year 2020 as a result of the replacement of 15% of all Swiss cars by electric vehicles is noted. Investigations being made concerning the effects of such a situation on the generation and distribution of electrical energy are reported on. Investigations made in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises in this area and measures to be taken to prepare the infrastructure to cope with increased demand are discussed. The influences expected on the high-voltage grid and various scenarios are discussed. A example for a Swiss Canton is presented that examines the influence of electric vehicles and the associated charging stations on the grid
