Potentiometric stability constants of some bivalent and trivalent metal ion chelates of N-(2-hydroxy-5-methylbenzylidene)-hydroxylamine and evaluation of this reagent for its antibacterial and anticoagulant activity

  • 1. Ramnarain Ruia College, Bombay (India)

Description

Stability constants of bivalent (Mg2+, Cd2+, Zn2+ and trivalent (La3+, Pr3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, Y3+, Dy3+, Ho3+ and Gd3+) metal chelates of N-(2-hydroxy-5-methyl benzylidene) hydroxylamine determined potentiometrically are reported. An attempt to correlate logK, of the bivalent metal chelates under study with the fundamental properties of the metal ions such as atomic radii, electronegativity, second ionisation potentials, sum of ionisation potentials and reciprocal of the ionic radii in the case of trivalent metal ligands has been made and the results are presented.
