Report concerning the activities for putting into action the Government's report on status and perspectives of large research establishments

The thirteen large research establishments are a main pillar of the R and D capacity of the Federal Republic of Germany. In order to keep abreast with future demands, these establishments have gone through a phase of re-orientation which now proceeds to a general reformulation of programmes and objectives. The new range of objectives reflects the research policy of the Federal German government: Intensification of basic research and government-sponsored long-term programmes, enhancement of foresighted research, and support of promising new technological developments. The subject-related re-orientation is accompanied by practice-related schemes for improving efficiency and efficacy of activities, by technology transfer e.g. The large research establishments and their tasks are pointed out separately.
