French upper-Rhone hydroelectric power plants: about some Swiss know-how in France (years 1870 to 1946)
Description
From Swiss border to Lyon, the Rhone declines a whole of pioneer's hydraulic installations, missing or always in place. It acts successively of Chancy-Pougny, the factories of Bellegarde-sur-Valserine and finally of the power station of Jonage. All profited from Swiss know-how. However, the multiples and various Swiss ambitions broke on the development of a hexagonal energy nationalism (CNR), on the expansion of the French groups (CGE and EI) and, finally, on the decisive interference of the State (nationalisation of 1946)
