Study of the evaporation of dysprosium and terbium from ternary alloys with palladium and platinum
Description
An integral variant of the Knudsen effusion method is used under conditions of an ultrahigh ''oil-free'' vacuum to study the evaporation of an alloy with 2 at. % Dy, 50 at. % Tb, and 48 at. % Pd and another alloy with 2.3 at. % Dy, 77.1 at. % Tb, and 20.6 at. % Pt. The temperature dependences of the vapor pressures and the partial thermodynamic functions of dysprosium and terbium are calculated for these alloys. An analogy is made between the behavior of terbium in binary and ternary alloys with palladium and platinum. It is shown that the introduction of an appropriate amount of palladium into an alloy of dysprosium with terbium increases the ratio of the vapor pressures of these elements more than threefold, while the addition of an appropriate amount of platinum increases this ratio fourfold
