Description
The lagrangian proposed by Siegel describing left- or right-moving scalars in two dimensions is analysed. The existence of anomalies is pointed out and a modification of the lagrangian leading to the elimination of anomalies is proposed. The generalization for chiral scalars defined on an arbitrary Riemann surface is discussed. (orig.)
