Method and apparatus for separating hydrogen isotopes
Description
The apparatus consists of 2 coaxial cylinders with a metallic filament in the axial position. The gas mixture is led into the inner cylinder where the molecules are dissociated into atoms by the filament heated at high temperature. The isotopic species with the lower partial pressure will diffuse through the wall of the inner cylinder into the outer cylinder where they are recombined into molecules. Several units of such pairs of cylinders could be connected in cascade. (orig./PW)
