Petrological characteristics of andesite in Shengyuan basin

  • 1. East China Bureau of Geology, JX (China). Geological Party No. 265

Description

In Shengyuan basin, andesite with the thickness from several centimeters to over 100 meters are composed of porphyritic and cryptocrystalline andesite, and distributed discretely along the margin of the basin. Rittman index (δ) of the andesite are mainly in the range of 1.8-3.3 (a few, >3.3). With SiO2 content similar to the average content of andesite in China, higher content of K2O, TiO2 = 0.91%, Rb/Sr = 1.128, δEu=1.3318, the andesite in Shengyuan basin show genetic relationship to upper mantle
