QED as a chiral gauge theory on the lattice
Description
We formulate lattice QCD in which two Wilson fermions describe the left-and right-handed components of electron. The Wilson fermions couple to photon chirally. Their Wilson terms are gauge invariant by virtue of a 'Wess-Zumino' scalar (Wilson-Yukawa terms), and the non-interacting components admit the shift symmetry discussed by Golterman and Petcher. Axial U(1) Ward-Takahashi identity is examined by weak gauge coupling expansion in unitary gauge. Ther term which reproduces the correct chiral anomaly is identified. (orig.)
