Controversy concerning turbulent bremsstrahlung

Description
Turbulent bremsstrahlung's nonzero growth rate derivation involves an incomplete summation of the nonlinear responses, so that use of the classically correct expression yields a growth rate that is identically zero. The radiative correction to ion sound wave resonant emission, in the presence of nonresonant Langmuir waves, is explicitly derived. A closing response to the criticism aired by Nambu (1986) notes that the inclusion of a background magnetic field gives a zero growth rate for this proposed kind of turbulent bremsstrahlung. 21 references
